The brilliant Carducci Quartet launch Ryedale Festival’s season with a programme full of fascinating interconnections. Haydn’s world of classical balance and charm inspired the American composer Caroline Shaw to compose her technicolour dreamscape Entr’acte, while Fanny Mendelssohn spoke of how the ‘exceedingly moving and emotional’ music of Beethoven inspired her to compose the string quartet that is one of the most impassioned of all her works. Join us for a buoyant evening of music, and to hear full details of the festival’s summer programme which will be revealed at the end of the concert.
