Ryedale Young Artists

About the Young
Artists Scheme
Excellence and opportunity are at the heart of the Ryedale Festival which, since its earliest days, has helped launch and develop the careers of outstanding performers. The Festival’s Young Artist scheme is a sought-after platform that every year provides performance, mentoring and profile-raising opportunities for a small group of exceptionally talented performers at the beginning of their professional careers.
Over a two-year period, Young Artists perform at the Festival, develop a close relationship with the audience, receive bespoke mentoring from world famous musicians and sector leaders, and enhance their profile through professionally filmed performances for the festival’s award-winning digital platform RyeStream. They also benefit from the Festival’s inclusive ethos and broad range of partnerships. For example, some have worked in local schools to share their skills and inspire the next generation of performers, while others have devised special concerts for audiences with dementia.

How to
Apply
Opportunities are available for outstanding singers, instrumentalists and chamber ensembles who can build a relationship with our audience and make the most of the opportunities the Festival can offer.
Ryedale Festival Young Artists are generally either finishing their training or in the early stages of a professional career, and many have been successful in major international competitions. But there is no upper age limit, and we are open to applications to those who are taking different routes to their career. You can watch performances by some of the current and former Young Artists here.
To be considered as a Young Artist, please send your CV and a short covering letter explaining why you are interested in becoming a Ryedale Festival Young Artist to the Festival’s General Manager. Applications can be submitted at any point during the year and you will receive a reply within three months.

Support our Young Artists
Joining our Young Artists Circle is one of the most rewarding ways to support the festival. Members support our work to put excellence and opportunity at the heart of the festival, either by sponsoring specific Young Artists or by supporting the scheme as a whole. In gratitude for their generosity, members are offered exclusive opportunities to step closer to the work of the Young Artists, following their development over two years.
