Aris & NOVO Quartets

Schubert String Quartet no.14 in in D minor, D.810 Death and the Maiden
Mendelssohn Octet in E-flat, op.20

Eight string players join forces in music conceived on a grand scale, opening with the Aris Quartet playing Schubert’s D minor Quartet Death and the Maiden. They are then joined by the NOVO Quartet in a performance of Mendelssohn’s astonishing Octet, written in a blaze of youthful confidence when he was only sixteen, filling one of Scarborough’s most beautiful buildings with music of exceptional richness and sweep.
