Ethan Loch Improvisation
Ryedale Festival Waverley Young Artist Ethan Loch inspires and connects with audience wherever he goes. Born blind, he picked out tunes on the piano as a toddler and by the age of 18 had won the keyboard final of BBC Young Musician. ‘I will never forget this performance’ said judge Anna Lapwood, ‘there’s something about him, the way he plays, his sincerity, that made us all remember why we’re involved in music-making, and it’s to be moved. It’s to experience those moments, when you don’t expect them necessarily, where you witness something that feels genuinely life-changing through music’. In this recital, he charts a vivid journey from Bach to Chopin, before ending with an improvisation.
