Eight string players join forces in music conceived on a grand scale. Mendelssohn’s astonishing Octet, written in a blaze of youthful confidence when he was only sixteen, is paired with Glière’s richly Romantic response, filling one of Scarborough’s most beautiful buildings with music of exceptional richness and sweep.
