A frequent guest of all the world’s greatest concert halls, Ian Bostridge brings to Ryedale a programme of songs inspired by childhood. He is joined by the festival’s poet in residence, Roger McGough, who has chosen poems to read – his own and those of others – on a similar young-hearted theme, and pianist Christopher Glynn, who plays Schumann’s Scenes of Childhood.
‘How does Ian Bostridge move us so much with his singing? It is as if he was born to sing Schubert and Schumann, and is also a peerless performer of English songs.’ – The Daily Telegraph
‘there was an inward intensity to his singing that held the audience rapt.’ – Chicago Tribune
