7 miles to the west of Malton, Hovingham with Hovingham Hall at it's centre of the village, is the home of the Worsley Family. The Duchess of Kent is the sister of Sir Marcus Worsley who along with Lady Worsley live in this very fine house designed in the middle 1700s by Sir Thomas Worsley. The main access to the hall is through a large arch and into the 'Ridding School' a high roofed hall easily large enough for concerts to be held in the summer months. From the ridding school there is a walk through to the gardens beyond.
