Final Gala Concert

Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment
Rachel Podger (violin)

Haydn - Symphony No.26 Lamentatione
Mozart - Violin Concerto no.1 in B flat (K.207)
J.C. Bach - Symphony in G minor
Mozart - Violin Concerto no. 5 in A (K.219)

After an astonishing early symphony by Haydn, full of wit and charm, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment join their longstanding collaborator Rachael Podger to explore two of Mozart’s greatest violin concertos, alongside an exhilarating but rarely performed symphony by Johann Christian Bach (son of Johann Sebastian - and more famous than him in 18th century London) that is full of twists, turns and dark passions.
