Through their award-winning recordings, and in over two thousand concerts throughout the world, Peter Phillips and The Tallis Scholars have done more than any other group to establish sacred vocal music as one of the great repertoires of Western music. Their unique sound, heard here in the long echoing spaces of Ampleforth Abbey, is famously suited to the great composers of Elizabethan England, including Byrd, Gibbons and Weelkes, but their programme also celebrates a close association with the haunting music of John Tavener and Arvo Pärt.
