One of the most attractive villages in the country.  It has a stream round the back of the square and pubs, restaurants and fascinating shops.  The Black Swan Hotel in the centre of the village is said to have played host to none other than William Wordsworth who was visiting his future wife. There is a very fine church near the square which houses a letter written by David Livingston when he was in Africa.
