Sledmere House and Church are the venues for two short concerts, both performed twice, the audience changing places either side of a picnic interval.

Schubert – String Quintet in C major (D. 956)

The profound qualities of the quintet Schubert completed two months before his death have made it one of the most loved of all chamber works. Pieter Wispelwey joins the Elias Quartet to perform a work that expresses noble  sadness, consoling lyricism and visionary spirituality.

Cris Stout  Catriona McKay wIt’s hard to believe there’s only two people on stage as Catriona Mackay and Chris Stout weave their way between glorious soundscapes and music of breathtaking simplicity. They have taken traditional instruments into the contemporary world, exciting and enchanting audiences all over the world with their unique style, inspired by the traditions of their native Shetland Islands and Scotland.

The grounds of Sledmere will be open from 5.30pmfor concertgoers and there will be a further picnic opportunity during the 45 minute interval between performances when drinks will also be available.
